High Flying Mummy

Never was I so excited about something. God gave me a friend in Coimbatore only for this I thought.

It was K's wedding at Coimbatore, and for once I felt why not take Mom in the "Aeroplane" as she calls it.

I remember those days when used to listen stories about them, how I vowed travelling on one of them and more than that making Mom an Air traveler.

It all set up perfectly.
After the wedding, we came back to hotel to rest and then off to Coimbatore Airport.

I wanted Mum to soak in the feel and not be guest inside the Airport. As we reached early, well before departure, we sat outside the Airport and recalled her memories on the same.
She was excited and that made me feel that I have achieved something, for all these years there is something which I can boast off.

Enter the Airport, she is curious to know what those boards are, about security check, cabin luggage, the stickers, the ticket and what not.

As we wait for the boarding, she looks on curious travelers and hopefully she realized that her time has come today.

The Perfect setting, a small K-F flight, a shorter journey, well dressed bright Air hostess, as we enter I recall my earlier discussions that it would be similar to her last trip on Volvo bus, where she felt terribly cold.
I made sure she has her sweaters, socks on this time :)

We enter, and no prizes for guessing, she is on the window seat and is fiddling with seat belt.
As the plane starts to move, she peeps out of the window, gauging the speed.
The speed increases and at one point, as we are airlifted, she gushes we are flying now, oh that was Nirvana for me.
Peeping through the window, with the objects beneath disappearing, oh man it reminded me of old days where there was talks about humans, vehicles, buildings looking tiny and she experienced it.

Very composed on her flight, she was at home, I checked in regularly she was just perfect.
There comes the dinner and again I was taken aback by her enthusiasm and appreciation for the food.
Oh how can I forget the well lit Ring Road of B'lore, all the flyovers, amazing
At the touch down point, before I could say, she was up-to the mark to jump the gun. She felt we hit the ground
She waited patiently for the Europeans ahead to give her way and embarked from her maiden journey.

This time I made sure to write feedback for the service, and Mum had only one word for everything "Fine", "Fine" and I did share my thoughts on that form.

For all my salaries, savings, spendings and most importantly time, If I have to rate the most satisfying one, it has to be the Aeroplane tickets and the journey from Coimbatore to B'lore.

She has become an "Air-Traveler" now, a tag which I am proud off.
Mom I did it, I feel satisfied today and Thanks for everything.
